Week 5 Preview

Wee 4 in the CAFFL seemed like an appetizer to the 5 Star entrée we get on Sunday as the four best teams in the league will be on the field. We get a battle of the undefeated Elite and the defending champion Mustangs, we also get to see the two most explosive teams with the Vipers and the Bandits going at it.

The opener has all the makings to be one of the CAFFL's very best games, the Elite who have proven to be the most consistent team in this league, they've won each of their games by double digits and have been in control from start to finish in every game. These two teams squared off three times last season and the Mustangs won by an average of 17 in those meetings, however the final game was the closest with the Mustangs winning by just 7 points. The quarterback matchup is very intriguing as we have the reigning MVP Jackson Davis going against possibly the potential MVP in Nash Teague, Teague has been so solid this season while Davis has been inconsistent at times but he is still able to show flashes of why he was picked as last seasons best. It will be interesting to see what kind of game plan the Mustangs come up with as they are going against a team that is on pace to being arguably the best defense in CAFFL history. DJ Hayes has his work cut out for him and so does the whole squad. What a matchup this should be, two of the best quarterbacks, two of the best receivers in the league, and two of our very best captains, Sunday can not get here soon enough.

We won't get the opportunity to catch our breath on Sunday as Game 2 gives us an offensive treat as the Vipers meet up with the Bandits. Adrian Morris has been absolutely sensational every Sunday and with the help of Ramar Easter this team just explodes on offense. Vipers have scored 60 or more points in their last two games and are averaging a whopping 46 points a game, the Bandits offense is pretty good as well they have scored 42 points a game. The Flag Football world should expect fireworks on Sunday, and maybe in more ways than one as the last time these two teams saw each other the game ended early as the Vipers walked off the field as a result of officiating that they did not agree with. While I don't expect that to happen on Sunday I still expect maybe a little tension in the air, the Bandits are desperate to get on a run like they had late in the season a year ago. Brett Meeks has been the Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde of the Bandits, at times he has made some absolutely outstanding plays and then at other times it has been real ugly. I expect a high scoring affair with these two offenses on Sunday.

With the two top teams in our league getting together the CAFFL Sportsbook has been up for several days crunching data to try and figure out the best lines for this game. The sportsbook right now has the Elite listed as a 2 point favorite, this is the first time in team history that the Mustangs are listed as the underdog. The total has been set at 75 as despite these two teams offering absolutely stellar defenses they can score at will at times. The Mustangs have hit the under in 2 of their three games.

The Vipers are listed as a 7 point favorite for their contest against the Bandits, and the total is set at 81.5 which is the highest total this season
