Week 1 of the 2025 season proved to be an exhilarating start for the Center Arkansas Flag Football League, as the much-anticipated matchup between the Mustangs and the Aces kicked off the action. The Mustangs welcomed back quarterback Jackson Davis, who made a triumphant return by leading his team on a scoring drive that set the tone for the game. Davis connected with his favorite target, All-CAFFL wide receiver Jacob Nichols, for a 6-yard touchdown, igniting the crowd and giving the Mustangs an early lead. However, the Aces were quick to respond; quarterback Christian Doucet orchestrated a drive of his own, culminating in a 13-yard touchdown pass to running back Kopkau. As the first half progressed, the Mustangs regained the advantage with a 25-yard touchdown run by RB DJ Hayes, heading into halftime with a narrow lead.
The second half saw both teams engage in a fierce battle, with each side refusing to back down. The tension escalated in the fourth quarter when Mustangs linebacker Jacob Bearden made a pivotal play, intercepting a pass during a crucial two-point conversion attempt by the Aces. This interception not only shifted momentum but also allowed the Mustangs to take a 30-28 lead. Jackson Davis finished the game with a stat line of 6 completions on 15 attempts for 92 yards, along with 3 touchdowns and 1 interception. On the other side, Doucet ended his night with 5 completions out of 10 attempts, racking up 173 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 1 interception, showcasing the competitive spirit of both quarterbacks.
