Mustangs Remain Undefeated With A Dominant Win Over Vipers
Well it was just another Sunday for the Arkansas Mustangs as they dropped 54 on the Hot Springs Vipers. The question should be asked not weather the Mustangs could lose to any team in the league but if the Mustangs would lose to an all star team comprised of the Vipers, Elite, and Bandits. Even if this dream scenario played out I still think that the Mustangs would win by two touchdowns. They are just too strong as a team at the current moment, but for all this hyping up of the Mustangs I have to give the Vipers credit for putting up 30 points without two of their top players Adrian Morris and Terrence Floyd who were each so impressive against the Bandits last Sunday. Morris and Floyd did not compete, so Dalton Norwood returned to his role as the starting quarterback. Norwood had a solid preseason but was injured early in the season, he threw for a respectable 237 yards and 4 touchdowns, his brother Jesse caught one of those touchdown passes along with Kyle Johler. Turning our attention back to the Mustangs and what else can you say Jackson Davis had yet another brilliant day passing for 5 touchdowns and just 1 incompletion. Quinton Edmond had an impressive offensive outing catching 3 passes with 2 of them going for scores. Shelton Smith, Andrew Davis, and the leagues leading receiver Hayden Gray all caught touchdown passes. On the defensive end Team Captain D.J. Hayes was upset at the teams effort at times, but when they needed to make big plays they did including an interception return for a touchdown by Austyn Harvey. The Mustangs also got huge help from their special teams Deonte "Primetime" Jamison arguably the most explosive player in the CAFFL returned a kickoff for a touchdown and so did Quinton Edmonds. This is yet another reason why the Mustangs are so far ahead of the other three teams they can win in so many ways even when the defense is not in their top form they make big plays on every side of the ball. I know some might say this game could have been different if the Vipers had Morris and Floyd but we will never know. This Sunday we just have a single game as the 4-0 Arkansas Mustangs face off against the 1-2-1 Hot Springs Elite.
